Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I wanted to write you directly about the work at the Registry.
I’m Matthew Boucher. I’ve been your Kennebec County Register of Deeds since 2023. This office holds the record on your home. That home is often a family’s most valuable asset. Our job is to keep those records accurate, public, and protected.
The Registry serves the public, attorneys, abstractors, banks, realtors, and anyone else who wants to file or do research. Get the file wrong and a closing gets ugly. Get it right and people can sell, refinance, or pass a house on without a surprise in the paperwork.
We also took title fraud seriously. We started a new property alert system at the Kennebec County Registry of Deeds. If something hits your record, you get notified. all you have to do is sign up for alerts. If a document references your title, you should know.
The Registry will never be the loudest office on the ballot. It is still one of the ones that matters. Clear title. Honest records. A staff that answers the phone.

In my role as Register of Deeds, I oversee the Registry's operations. I am dedicated to responsibly managing your tax dollars, consistently staying under budget while maximizing revenue, eliminating waste, and providing the highest value to Kenne County taxpayers.
Modernization
Record keeping has significantly transformed over the years. I have already modernized essential processes in the office and will continue to advocate for new technologies and best practices, leveraging from state and national Register of Deeds associations to enhance and lower operational costs.
Customer Service
With years of experience in customer service and now leading Registry, I recognize that government must treat the public the true decision-makers with respect and excellence.
